What is a celebrant?

A celebrant is someone who prepares and conducts ceremonies.

Ceremonies are a way of publicly marking our major life events: the birth and naming of a child; a commitment ceremony for a couple to mark their relationship without marriage; a marriage ceremony; a renewal of vows ceremony for a couple or a funeral service to celebrate a life. These ceremonies enable us to share our joy or grief with family and friends.

A celebrant will work closely with those involved to make sure the ceremony is tailored to reflect their personal wishes.

Celebrant-led ceremonies can include both religious and non-religious aspects and are completely flexible as to what can be included with regard to readings and music.
