Funeral services

A funeral service is held to enable us to remember and celebrate the life of a loved one who has passed. It gives family and friends a chance to reflect on how the life of the deceased has impacted and influenced them. It is an opportunity to gather to pay your respects and to begin the process of coming to terms with the loss of a loved one.

An initial meeting with the family of one and a half to two hours enables me to find out about the deceased – what kind of person they were and their individual life story. The family can let me know their ideas that they want to incorporate in the service. I then draft the ceremony to reflect the family’s wishes and send them a copy for their approval.

On the day of the funeral I meet with the family and conduct the ceremony, speaking on their behalf. Often people like to include readings as part of the service. ThereĀ is a link to some suggested readings below.

If a family is referred to me by the funeral directors, then my fee is usually included with the fee paid to them.
